Aretha Franklin

In 1968, Aretha Franklin gave a legendary performance in Het Concertgebouw. The Queen of Soul made her overwhelming European debut, leaving the audience and press astonished. The hall was filled with 'a maximum electric atmosphere', wrote Het Parool. Flowers flew around Franklin's ears, who not only sang but also played the piano. The hits from back then are performed today by the legendary Harlem Gospel Choir.
