Bruckner's Third is a large-scale, sometimes mysterious, sometimes tumultuous work with a lot of copper. Bruckner dedicated the symphony to Richard Wagner, followed by a huge drinking spree. From then on, Wagner would call his friend Bruckner 'the trumpet'.
