In 1993, four young musicians from the Jerusalem Conservatory embarked on a journey to establish a string quartet. Successfully realizing their dream, the Jerusalem Quartet has since become an integral part of the chamber music pantheon. In perfect collaboration, the string players have struck a balance between classical mastery and individual expression. Infused with respect and love for the great masters, they maintain a keen curiosity for new developments, resulting in a vast and diverse repertoire for their ensemble.

Debussy's String Quartet

With his String Quartet in G minor, 31-year-old Debussy definitively broke away from his conservative conservatory training. He aimed to compose quintessential French music, drawing inspiration surprisingly from sources outside France: young Russian music and the Indonesian gamelan. However, the new harmonies endow the quartet with its unmistakable French essence. Debussy's masterpiece narrates a story woven through all its movements, featuring a perfect alternation of energy and tranquillity. In the Andantino, exotic and mysterious influences resound, showcasing the composer's unparalleled ability to create evocative atmospheres.
