Junior Grachtenfestival: In the Bud (6+)
The 'In de Knop' (In the Bud) Foundation, whose motto is 'you can learn to compose', was founded a few years ago by Dutch composer Anne-Maartje Lemereis and composer Remy Alexander. In addition to organizing 'The Youngest Composers Day', they are committed to a special project and a unique collaboration with various childcare centres in Amsterdam North during the Grachtenfestival. The result is a concert full of premieres! Children from Amsterdam have composed new piano pieces in workshops. Come and listen at the IJzaal of Tolhuistuin.

Composing together with the audience
Anne-Maartje plays some of her compositions during the concert, but the highlight is the interactive part, where a new piece is devised and played together with the audience.
This interactive element provides a unique experience where the audience is actively involved in the creative process. The children also perform a piece of music together.
This concert offers an inspiring and immersive experience for both the children and the audience, focusing on the power of joint creativity and music.
