Klaus Mäkelä, Lisa Batiashvili, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff

Since her debut in 2001, the arrival of violinist Lisa Batiashvili has always been something to look forward to. This time she can indulge herself in Prokofiev's wonderfully melodious Second Violin Concerto . Klaus Mäkelä combines it with Rachmaninoff's irresistible Second Symphony . With this symphony, Batiashvili took revenge the composer reflected on his failed debut. And how. The melancholy theme of part 3 has drawn many tears since its premiere in 1908 – and will continue to do so.

World Premiere Ellen Reid

A surprise is the new commissioned work, Body Cosmic , which American Ellen Reid wrote on the occasion of her residency at Het Concertgebouw and the Concertgebouworkest in the 2023-2024 season. We have been introduced to her as a musical jack-of-all-trades who moves smoothly through the most diverse moves across styles and genres, from classical to avant-garde pop and electronic soundscapes, so that could be interesting.
