Maarten Ornstein & Francis Marie Uitti - Il grande viaggio
Il grande viaggio: duets for cello and saxophone in Splendor. Take the leap of faith. Cello and saxophone duets and solos; sometimes agreed work, often not. Fragments of Schubert (now Splendor's resident composer) and Bach sandwiched between unobstructed views by two master improvisers who make their instruments hum and roar, screech and scream. And, of course, they sing too. This concert is a restart of a collaboration that seemed to be in full bloom just before the pandemic but was forced to put on hold at the time.

Il grande viaggio: duets for cello and saxophone
A re-premiere; a renewed meeting. You could also call it a conspiracy, a secret meeting where cunning musical plans are made and immediately tested. Splendour as it was meant to be, as a laboratory for expression.
With Frances-Marie Uitti on cello and Maarten Ornstein on tenor and soprano saxophone.
