Just like Herbie Hancock, internationally acclaimed pianist Michiel Borstlap is always looking for that surprising next step in his artistic development. Versatility, virtuosity, showmanship, business acumen and a liberating disregard for genres or boxes.

After a number of beautiful, often intimate and vulnerable solo projects, I felt the itch again. Alone is only alone, so Michiel will work with his own band again, consisting of Glenn Gaddum jr., Yoràn Vroom and Jerôme Hol.

Michiel Borstlap has built an impressive career as a soloist with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Metropole Orchestra. With his works he won various prizes all over the world and, in addition to his many collaborations with Herbie Hancock himself, he released eight solo piano albums.

With roots in the jazz tradition, his own view on fusion, pop/rock oriented music and impressionism, he is a unique pianist. Now an established name himself, Michiel honors the man who often showed him the way.
