True storyteller
Following the successful debut album 'Big Enough' and the subsequent tour, Mooneye entered the studio at the end of 2022 for a follow-up. For this, frontman Michiel Libberecht wanted to return to the essence of the band: intimacy from an acoustic foundation. He drew inspiration from the "American way of songwriting," with elements of folk and country, and influences like Kevin Morby, the acoustic Beck, and soundtracks by Morricone and Luppi. The result is a stunning, varied, yet coherent album.
Libberecht comes across more personally and proves to be a true storyteller in each song. "This is very close to who I am," he says. "With a wide musical palette of what Mooneye is and can still be in the future." How exactly that sounds, you'll find out when the new album is released in February.
