The jazz department of the Amsterdam Music School produces many young talents every year. During the annual Jazz Marathon, more than 80 musicians from all age categories put their best foot forward in various bands, ensembles and big bands. 36 years ago, Peter Guidi, 'the godfather of the Amsterdam jazz scene' (de Volkskrant), founded the Jazz Department. This has grown into 4 big bands, seven Jazz combos and 2 adult workshops that rehearse weekly in the Amsterdam Music School. The result was this packed afternoon, in which promising players of the new generation claimed their place on stage.
