Roy Hargrove
Susanne Alt performs with a jazz band of international allure on the occasion of her 6th album 'Royalty for Real'. This is dedicated to the prematurely deceased trumpeter Roy Hargrove and was recorded with top American musicians in the EastSide Sound studio in New York. It is a return to the acoustic jazz that Susanne Alt once made her breakthrough with. Her passion for jazz started with Hargrove, among others, who managed to say so much with few notes. Alt regularly played with him at jam sessions around the world. Susanne Alt is a saxophonist, composer, DJ and producer based in Amsterdam. After training in classical and jazz, she was one of the first musicians to play live with DJs in the nightlife. She is appreciated for her soulful, deep, funky sound and has performed with Fred Wesley, DJ Spinna and DJ Maestro, among others.
Live at Bimhuis
'Live at Bimhuis' was also released in 2011 with her then quartet. After many years of more than 100 performances a year, her schedule was suddenly empty during the pandemic. It was the reason to return to her first real love: acoustic jazz. During this period, she wrote the compositions that formed the basis for 'Royalty For Real'.
