The Plastic Party. At one time, almost every housewife had to deal with this phenomenon: you organised such a party and received a gift that was as handy as it was indestructible. Or you went because your neighbour had also been to yours, and then came home with something superfluous that you actually had no intention of buying: microwave-ready egg cases, fresh-keeping boxes, miracle boxes with breathable lids... Objects that will continue to populate our kitchen cupboards for the rest of our days. But in today's throwaway society, there is absolutely no room for indestructibility. Time seems to have overtaken the iconic plastic kitchenware. Every Plastic Party could suddenly be the last party... And then? Will that also bring an end to everything the Plastic Party stood for? An end to sustainability? To the economic emancipation of the housewife? Can we even imagine a world without all this kitchen plastic?

‍Plastic Party! is a cheerful chamber opera about the end of a socio-cultural ritual. Or not? Either way, David Prins wrote the brand new Dutch libretto. The music comes from Mozart's equally beautiful and indestructible operas Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni and Le nozze di Figaro. It's party time! Come party with us while you still can!
