Beautiful music at a historical place

Ten years ago, during a first gathering in the Concertgemaal of initiators, neighbours and interested parties - the renovation of the former steam pumping station had yet to begin - the world-famous cellist Ernst Reijseger let his cello emerge squeaking and creaking from the building dust like a rusty machine that was slowly being brought back to life. But lubricated by loving and skilled hands, the instrument soon began to sing: moving, oiled and flaming as ever.

On 13 September 2014, the Concertgemaal opened its doors to the public for the first time. The former Kadoelen steam pumping station from 1875 became a breeding ground for creative entrepreneurs from the area and a stage for acoustic music. Exactly ten years later, this hidden gem in Noord is celebrated, and everyone is welcome! Come and take a look at the Landsmeerderdijk during this anniversary weekend, experience the historical atmosphere between the old pumping stations and be surprised by the beautiful music.
