Solo project
Thundercat is the solo project of producer, singer and virtuoso bassist Stephen Bruner from Los Angeles. He started his career as a member of the thrash metal punk formation Suicidal Tendencies but quickly made a name for himself with his music after leaving the band. 2010 the album Cosmogramma, a collaboration with electronics producer Flying Lotus, was released. This was followed by two solo albums, an EP on Flying Lotus' label Brainfeeder and collaborations with, among others, Kendrick Lamar on his 'To Pimp a Butterfly' and Kamasi Washington on 'The Epic'.
Drunk
His 3rd album 'Drunk' was released in 2017 and was critically acclaimed thanks to its inventive mix of seventies funk, R&B and punk with fusion influences, with contributions from big names such as Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Wiz Khalifa, Kamasi Washington and Flying Lotus.
