Viennese and Amsterdam musicians - Mahler, Verdi and Mascagni
The Viennese Akademischer Orchesterverein is a guest in a joint concert with The Orchestra and Toonkunstkoor Amsterdam. The three music companies, all consisting of advanced amateurs, together provide a varied and challenging program with music by Mascagni, Verdi and Mahler. This special concert is the result of an international exchange between the orchestras from Vienna and Amsterdam.

Under the baton of Christian Birnbaum, the Akademischer Orchesterverein Wien will perform Gustav Mahler's impressive 'First Symphony' after the break. A unique opportunity to listen to this work by the quintessential Viennese composer in a performance by an orchestra that has been active in Vienna since 1904.
Italian highlights by Amsterdam musicians
Before the break, the Orchestra and Toonkunstkoor Amsterdam will perform parts from Giuseppe Verdi's 'Quattro Pezzi Sacri' and Pietro Mascagni's 'Cavalleria Rusticana'. The Amsterdam musicians are led by Jacob Slagter, the permanent conductor of the Orchestra
