Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw consists of world-class Dutch jazz musicians and is among the best in Europe. Traditionally, the big band gives a festive end-of-year concert. During previous editions, the big band invited Jose James, Oleta Adams, Kurt Elling and Jazzmeia Horn to perform with to celebrate the holidays with them.

James Carter

'To hear saxophonist James Carter is to be blown away' wrote the Washington Post about this legendary American saxophonist from Detroit. And nothing could be further from the truth. Carter is a musical glutton: he plays all kinds of saxophones and plays all kinds of jazz, from old style to modern bop. In one set he can single-handedly cover the entire history of jazz, with verve.

Marjorie Barnes

Singer Marjorie Barnes has a career that spans more than fifty(!) years. She was born and raised in New York, and started her career in Broadway musicals such as Hair and Dreamgirls . She has worked with artists such as Frank Sinatra, John Clayton, Marcus Miller and drummer Mel Lewis. As Grand Lady of the American Songbook and Christmas Jazz, she can take you into the Christmas spirit like no other.

Madeline Bell

Singer Madeline Bell is also a seasoned singer who started her music career in gospel, after which she sang as a backing vocalist for Dusty Springfield and Elton John, among others. She shone in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar and the British band Blue Mink. In 2005, she released she recorded the album Tribute to Ray Charles with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, a tribute to the blind American rhythm and blues artist.
