Yannis & The Yaw
In 2016, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis joined forces with legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. They locked themselves in the studio together for two days to make music, but those recordings were shelved for a while due to busy schedules and an intervening pandemic.

Lagos Paris London
In 2020, Tony Allen passed away, and afterwards, Yannis felt it was his duty to complete their work together. The result is the EP Lagos Paris London, which will be released on August 30. Initially, Yannis envisioned a traditional Afrobeat album, but the result bridged cultures by blending African influences with echoes of Foals.
Lagos Paris London honours Tony's versatile drumming and is a tribute to his eternal musicality. The first single 'Walk Through Fire' has just been released, a nice summer track in which the African drum sounds are beautifully mixed with the funky sound we know from Foals.
