Guest room
Yard Act was founded in September 2019 when Ryan Needham temporarily moved into James Smith's guest room. Their living conditions created a creative partnership, fusing satirical lyrics with proto-punk demos.
With the release of their debut album 'The Overload', it was an instant hit. The characteristically sharp songs, accompanied by Smith's spoken-word monologues, proved a successful formula. The Leeds band recently shared a new single, 'The Trench Coat Museum', co-produced by Gorillaz member Remi Kabaka Jr.
