Complete freedom
In his biography on his website, Peter Wilms recounts how he, both in his life and in his work as musician, broke away more and more from existing structures. After his conservatory studies, he played in various orchestras, ensembles and bands for a number of years. At the same time, his spiritual journey took him from meditation to self enquiry, in which the classical question 'Who am I?' became increasingly central. This realisation brought the challenge to embody his deepest essence in his life and work. A crucial insight was that our essential being is always free, and that we can trust that life provides exactly what is essential at that moment.
This spiritual development reflected in his musical career. He started giving marimba recitals, began a meditation group, and from this meditative concerts emerged. Improvisation turned out to give him even more freedom to express himself. His voice became part of his concerts, and gradually he found a way, in his own words, ‘to express in complete freedom my deepest Self.’
The steps that Peter Wilms took in his life and as a musician, form the framework of this yoga concert: an exploration of our deepest being, and a quest to embody this essence, to find, each one of us, our own Song of Yoga.
What is a yoga concert?
A concert, poetry performance, and a yin yoga class in one. This is the formula of the yoga concerts. The calm, meditative but intense postures of yin yoga allow to sink deeper into consciousness, beyond the patterns of the mind. On the yogamat, physical sensations weave together with musical improvisations. The mind becomes quieter, opening space to meet the music and poetry in the heart. In this way, the live improvised music, yoga postures, and mystical poetry intertwine, affect, and strengthen each other for a journey inside.
