Moving Furniture

The Amsterdam label Moving Furniture is a leading force in the Dutch (electronic) avant-garde scene. Its rich catalogue includes drone, noise, field recordings, modern composition, and pop music. The Moving Furniture Festival will feature performances by artists who have recently released new work on the label or plan to do so later this year.

Coen Oscar Polack's 'A Concrete Pasture', featuring field recordings, gamelan, and saxophone, received high praise last fall. He will perform work from this album at Splendor.

Dario Calderone's album 'Isolario' comprises duets with other instrumentalists. He will present new work for double bass and field recordings at Splendor.

Label head Sietse van Erve, also known as Orphax, recently released an album of drone songs with his brother Poni and will present a new composition with the help of Ensemble Maze at the Rewire Festival in The Hague. He will give a solo performance at Splendor.

Composer and sound artist Fani Konstantinidou's work focuses on urban and rural sound environments combined with digital sound sources. She is working on a new album to be released by Moving Furniture later this year.

Jos Smolders will release three new works this year, some with Moving Furniture. He is also involved with the label as a mastering engineer. At Splendor, he will present a new audiovisual work created for the occasion, shown in his absence.

The Amsterdam noise duo Glice is loosely connected to the Moving Furniture scene through collaborations with Coen Oscar Polack and Lasse Marhaug.
