About Freemasonry

From Scotland, Freemasonry spread across Europe in the eighteenth century. Many mysterious stories and ceremonies of these secret societies are inspired by forms of ancient Egypt. This can be seen, for example, with Moses, who in the Renaissance was identified with the mythical Hermes Trismegistus, but also with the legendary architect Imhotep, who built the first pyramid and is the son of the fire god Ptah, architect of the universe. Many lodges at this time are also decked out in Egyptian shapes. During this lecture you can learn even more about the Egyptian influences.

Practical information

The doors and café will be open from 18:15 and close at 19:15. The lecture will start at 19:30. There will be time to ask questions 20:30-21:00. Afterwards, you can buy a drink in the café if you feel like it. The lecture is in Dutch and can also be followed online via Zoom.
