Micha on Gaga dance: 'The forty participants are introduced to the movement language of Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin. Gaga provides a framework for exploring and strengthening the body and developing flexibility, endurance and skills such as coordination and efficiency. All while stimulating the senses and empathy.

Few artists have had as much influence on me as Ohad, whom I have followed breathlessly for almost thirty years. Last year I was allowed to go to Tel Aviv for NRC to interview him about the question of what art can mean in times of war.

Gaga dance is born out of Naharin’s curiosity about the ongoing exploration of movement and his need to communicate with dancers to improve their dance skills, variety of movements and interpretation of his choreography. If there were Gaga classes in the Netherlands, I would definitely show up once a week. After an hour of grooving to good music, you can handle life’s imperfections a little better.
