Invest-NL commits €7.5M to Amsterdam biotech innovations
Funding for innovation in biotech
Invest-NL has committed €7.5 million to the newly launched Forbion BioEconomy, an initiative supporting cutting-edge biotechnology companies. This investment aligns with recent VCC Deep Tech Fund efforts, promoting sustainable innovation and addressing global challenges like eco-friendly material development and sustainable food production.
The Forbion BioEconomy Fund I, managed by the Netherlands-based Forbion, targets developments in industrial materials, environmental technology, food, and agriculture. Key areas of interest include alternative proteins and biobased materials, both of which align with growing demands for sustainable solutions.
Amsterdam is driving biotech solutions
Invest-NL has committed €10 million to the Forbion BioEconomy Fund I, signalling strong institutional support for the biotech sector. Unlike early-stage venture funds, this fund focuses on companies with proven technologies, guiding them through key growth stages.
Investment initiatives like those from Invest-NL, SET Ventures and Carbon Equity are driving innovation by supporting companies that address global challenges. Many of these newly funded companies call Amsterdam home. This is why the city is rapidly emerging as a key player in AI and tech innovation, driven by this growing network of startups and companies committed to cutting-edge solutions.. These efforts reflect the maturing market and contribute to a thriving funding ecosystem in the Dutch capital.
