Alexander Hawkins Trio

A new vision on the piano trio by influential players from British jazz

On their recent album Carnival Celestial, all kinds of influences merge, from traditional to electronic. Alexander Hawkins played in all kinds of formations on our stage, in very different genres, from ethio-jazz with Mulatu Astatke to hardcore impro with Han Bennink. Now, he performs with his regular trio with double bassist Neil Charles and drummer Stephen Davis. They previously formed quartets with Elaine Mitchener, Anthony Braxton, John Surman and Shabaka Hutchings. Neil Charles, also known as a producer named Ben Marc, worked with Jack DeJohnette, Courtney Pine and Gabriels, among others. Stephen Davis plays with great improvisers such as Evan Parker, Kris Davis and Paul Dunmall.
