Coal Harbour - Kafkaësk
June 2024 will mark the 100th anniversary of the death of writer Franz Kafka at a young age. In Kafkaesque style, the Rotterdam band Coal Harbor takes its literature as a source of inspiration for new music.
Coal Harbour - Kafkaësk
Franz Kafka
Franz Kafka is one of the most fascinating and influential writers of the twentieth century. His work, often described as absurdist and surrealist, has had a profound influence on literature and philosophy. Kafka's work is still extremely relevant today. Many of his themes, such as alienation and dehumanization, have always remained urgent. With their new music, Coal Harbor takes you into the world of the Czech writer and draws parallels between Kafka's vision and our current time.
Looking for edges
Coal Harbor, consisting of 11 musicians, pushes the boundaries between contemporary classical music and jazz. Kafkaësk is the successor to the excellently received FEEDFORWARD, with which the collective toured stages and festivals throughout the country in 2022. Made possible by the Performing Arts Fund, Municipality of Rotterdam, Cultural Fund, Norma Fund.
