Johnathan Blake & Pentad
Absolute top players from American jazz can be found in Pentad, led by Johnathan Blake, who is one of the most gifted drummers of his generation. He grew up in Philadelphia, the city that meant so much to American music history. On his most recent album, Passage, he pays tribute to his father, jazz violinist John Blake Jr., who died 10 years ago.

Lively character
Yet the music is not gloomy and reflects the extrovert, high-spirited characters of father and son. Passage was released on the legendary jazz label Blue Note, and it was also responsible for the previous album that Johnathan Blake made with the same lineup, Homeward Bound. “Downbeat” called Homeward Bound “a celebration of life, full of exuberance and cheerful energy.” Johnathan Blake has worked with big names such as Pharoah Sanders, Chris Potter and Avishai Cohen and previously played on our stage in the bands of Tom Harrell, Ravi Coltrane and Oded Tzur.
