Amatis Trio

The trio was founded in 2014 and is based in Salzburg. Violinist Lea Hausmann, cellist Samuel Shepherd and pianist Mengjie Han are celebrated for their energy, creativity and passion. The musicians have performed in 45 countries on 5 continents and have won many major international competitions and awards.

Schubert, Korngold and Haydn

Schubert wrote his Piano Trio in B flat in the year before last. Schumann wrote of the work: 'One look at Schubert's Trio , and the problems of our human existence disappear. The whole world is fresh and bright again. Let the work he left us be a cherished legacy, time will not soon produce another Schubert!'. Korngold was only twelve when he wrote his Piano Trio in D , Op. 1. He was one of the most extraordinary child prodigies in the history of music, equaled only by Mendelssohn and Mozart. The Trio is a remarkably mature work, with an extraordinary audacity and freshness. Haydn, the grand master of the string quartet, was equally important to the piano trio. He composed about forty of them; the last, the London trios, appeared during Haydn's successful English years, are absolute genius.
