Amsterdamse Cantorij: Unser Wandel ist im Himmel
In this concert, the Amsterdam Cantorij will perform a selection of choral works from the high and late baroque (ca. 1650-1750), which shows how choral music developed in that period. In the early works, the influence of Schütz and Monteverdi can still be clearly heard, while the later works already anticipate Haydn and Mozart. Of course, Johann Sebastian Bach plays an important role in this development. Join us at the Waalse Kerk. Please note: The mentioned end time is an indication and may vary.

Works of the Bach family
We hear his famous motet Lobet den Herrn, but the programme also includes works by his older cousin Johann Christoph Bach, his younger cousin and pupil Johann Ernst Bach and his son-in-law and pupil Johann Christoph Altnickol. Bach's own great example, Dietrich Buxtehude, is also featured.
An important role is also reserved for a number of lesser known, but interesting German composers from the second half of the seventeenth century, Christoph Bernhard and Franz Tunder. To illustrate the great influence of the French on the German Baroque, the concert is concluded with the festive Magnificat by the French composer Henry Du Mont. To buy tickets use this ticketlink.
The Amsterdam Cantorij is conducted by Felix van den Hombergh and will collaborate with the Baroque Orchestra of the Amsterdam Cantorij for this concert.
