Universal music

Pianist and composer Avishai Darash mixes traditional North African music and Middle Eastern folk with American jazz and Western classical music. Known for his earlier work with the Marmoucha Orchestra, he combines these influences and lets them flow into each other. He is accompanied by top players from the Dutch jazz scene: Antonio Moreno Glazkov, Tuur Moens and Jeroen Vierdag. In response to his recent album Between Hope and Despair, the Amsterdam pianist puts on an adventurous show in which he takes you on a journey. The music explores the emotions of 'hope' and 'despair' in response to recent events in the Middle East. The reviews of the album are full of praise: 'Avishai speaks not only for himself, but for everyone; his music is universal' (Paris Move).
