COCON Cello Octet Amsterdam
Eight cellists, enveloped by eight moving shells: for COCON, the Cello Octet and artist Nick Verstand create a fascinating scene. The shells unfold and transform simultaneously with the music in a subtle interplay of light, sound, performance, and robotics. COCON includes six new compositions specially created for the octet, with the opener being Sarah Davachi's long work Graduals. This concert is part of The Rest is Noise. Come and listen in 't Muziekgebouw aan het IJ.
COCON Cello Octet Amsterdam
Subtle teamplay of light, sound, performance and robotics
In COCON, the cello players are held in a state of constant metamorphosis, symbolizing the transitory nature of the human experience. The designer Nick Verstand, created audiovisual art for festivals such as DGTL and ADE and shows by Doja Cat, Lykke Li, and Eefje de Visser. All composers selected for COCON seek the tension between electronic and acoustic music.
