Critical state of humanity
Camiel Jansen made his name with compositions such as Het Toeslagenschijn and Mars , about the intended journey of man to this planet, and with his jazzy compositions he likes to look at things from a different angle. In the contemporary oratorio De Fundamenten he investigates the roots of the critical state of humanity that was exposed by the corona pandemic.
New light on Mussorgsky
The social and programmatic nature of The Fundamentals finds a counterpart in Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain and Pictures at an Exhibition . Not in Ravel's famous arrangement, but in Leopold Stokowski's shorter, much darker and ultimately thoroughly Russian orchestration. This arrangement, rarely heard today, undoubtedly sheds new light on these famous works by Mussorgsky.
