Greetje Bijma & Oceanic

It is a wondrous collaboration, that of leftfield techno DJ and producer Oceanic and jazz vocal artist; a sparkling hybrid at the intersection of improv and electronic. Greetje Bijma can rightly be called a legend: in 1990 she was the first woman to win the Buma Boy Edgar Prize (the most important Dutch prize for jazz and improvised music) and she has worked with Jasper van 't Hof, Willem Breuker and Louis Andriessen, among others. Since the 80s, this free jazz singer has been an indispensable part of the Dutch jazz scene. When Pieter Jansen from record label yeyeh bumped into Bijma, he was immediately starstruck. He asked her if she would like to collaborate with a young producer of electronic music, and her answer was an immediate yes. Enter Oceanic. This rising star within the Dutch electronic underground is known for his mechanical rhythms, minimalist melodies and vibrant electronics. Although the two come from completely different generations, they immediately had a musical click. Expect mind-blowing vocals, danceable rhythms and breathtaking beats during the presentation of their new album at Amsterdam Dance Event.
