Canto ostinato on four pianos

"Canto is a way of life for me," pianist Jeroen van Veen once said in an interview. As a teenager, he became acquainted with Simeon ten Holt's most famous composition, which can last half an hour but also six hours. Regarding Canto Ostinato at The Concertgebouw, Van Veen noted, "You want to be able to play whisper-soft in Canto, even with four pianos at the same time. In this hall, you have one hundred per cent control over the sound. And what's also very nice: it feels as if the audience is very close."
