Joel Ross has established himself at the top of American jazz. He has been voted best vibraphonist of the year several times in the prestigious Downbeat Critics Poll. On his recent album 'nublues' he mixes Bach with gospel and his own compositions with gems by John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk. He alternates the melancholy of blues and ballads with passionate, clear playing on the instrument he excels at, the vibraphone. 'nublues' was released on the legendary jazz label Blue Note Records. Joel Ross made a name for himself at a young age in the Chicago jazz scene and now lives in Brooklyn, New York. In recent years he has played in an impressive number of bands. With big names like Joshua Redman and Wynton Marsalis, but also with jazz promises like Marquis Hill and Immanuel Wilkins.
