On his debut album 'The Southern Suite', Sean Mason puts a contemporary spin on the music he grew up with in Charlotte, North Carolina. The pianist mixes the church's gospel with the rawness of the street and the groove of the blues with the melody of Broadway. Sean Mason Quartet performs at the Bimhuis.

For his first European tour, Sean formed a band with great players from New York, who can also be heard on 'The Southern Suite'. The secret weapon is Felix Moseholm, the Copenhagen-born double bassist who has collaborated with big names in contemporary jazz. Trumpeter Tony Glausi and drummer Domo Branch complete the quartet.
