One of the finest pianists of his generation
With his own trio he feels like a fish in water. Assisted by double bassist Orlando le Fleming and drummer David Hawkins he improvises on the basis of his own compositions and selected covers. Joey Calderazzo made his name as a pianist, keyboardist and composer with two of the most important tenor saxophonists of the past fifty years, Michael Brecker and Branford Marsalis.
As Branford Marsalis's main musical companion, he collaborated on successful projects such as the band Buckshot LeFonque and the duo album Songs of Mirth and Melancholy. He released several albums as a solo pianist and leader of his own trio, including on Blue Note.
