Beethoven's Pathétique

Beethoven was 27 years' old when he composed one of his most famous piano sonatas: the Eighth Sonata , nicknamed 'Pathétique', a piece that immediately resonated with the public. Beethoven's publisher heard the drama, passion and stormy character of the work and stuck the label 'Pathétique' on it.

Martin James Bartlett

'Martin James Bartlett is not only a child prodigy on the piano, but also an accomplished artist who belongs to the greats of his generation', is how a reviewer in the South of France described the art of this English pianist. Bartlett was BBC Young Musician of the Year and tours successfully around the world with a diverse repertoire. He will be a guest again in the Kleine Zaal.
