Meesterlijk!: Florian Verweij
Pianist Florian Verweij is the second nominee for the Grachtenfestival Paris 2024, featured in the 'Meesterlijk!' series. In the stunning Winter Garden of Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, he presents a vibrant program showcasing why he could become the new Artist in Residence of the Grachtenfestival 2024. The winner of the GrachtenfestivalPrijs will hold the title for a year and receive carte blanche to curate their own program for the next festival.
Meesterlijk!: Florian Verweij
Different styles
Florian brings a kaleidoscope of styles, from (late) romantic to modern and from folk music to jazz. Mahler's romantic piano quartet stands next to its much more modern brother by Schnittke, and the hard life of the Jewish community in pre-war Russia, expressed in Copland's 'Vitebsk', contrasts with the humorous 'high class dinner music' of the American Paul Schoenfield.
