The Ninth Symphony, 'From the New World' by Antonín Dvořák, has remained popular since its premiere in 1893. The Czech composer wrote it during his stay in the United States as a conservatory director in New York. Inspired by the music of the Indian and African-American populations and also out of nostalgia for his Bohemian homeland, he incorporated attractive and stirring folk melodies into this symphony. The National Symphony Orchestra of Romania plays Dvořák's irresistible masterpiece under the direction of the young Romanian conductor Gabriel Bebeselea.

Simon Trpčeski plays Rachmaninoff

When Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčeski plays Rachmaninoff's beloved Second Piano Concerto, you have to be in the audience. His interpretation of this technically challenging concert received much praise worldwide and earned him several CD awards. Trpčeski is renowned not only for his impeccable technique and delicate expression but also for his warm personality and dedication to strengthening Macedonia's cultural image.
