Richard Bona

Richard Bona is a Grammy-winning musician, internationally acclaimed bassist, composer and multi-instrumentalist. Bona's roots are interwoven in his unique sound and voice: through his music he touches on the traditions, culture, beauty and problems of the African continent. This, combined with his special stage personality, makes him a household name in global, jazz and afropop music. Richard Bona has worked with the top of the international music world: from Herbie Hancock and Sting to Bobby McFerrin, George Benson and Quincy Jones. He also devotes a large part of his time to coaching and guiding young talent.

Brussels Jazz Orchestra

Richard Bona plays in this concert together with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. From their shared passion for music, and with an open mind, they look beyond the boundaries of jazz. The African grooves, virtuoso bass lines and falsetto voice of Bona are interwoven with the recognizable sound and musical richness of the Jazz Orchestra. This ensemble was founded in 1993 and has worked with international artists such as Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner and Toots Thielemans from the start. The Brussels Jazz Orchestra plays on stages and festivals in Europe and has made several successful tours to the United States.
