Super-Sonic Jam led by Steam Down
Super-Sonic Jam is a concept that originated in the basement of Paradiso during the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival in Paradiso. During these informal jam sessions, musicians and visitors came together to play together until late at night; everything revolved around spontaneity, creativity and improvisation. Since the beginning of 2024, Super-Sonic Jam has been taking place in Skatecafe and after five sold-out editions, Super-Sonic Jam is returning to the place where it all started: Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. Regular visitors know it by now: a tight backing band stands on the floor in the middle of the room, surrounded by visitors. During an improvised set, dozens of guest musicians and guest vocalists are invited to play along. Visitors and amateur musicians are also welcome to join.
Steam Down
Steam Down is a music collective from London who host a weekly jam session in Peckham called SD Weekly. Both were founded in 2017 by multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Ahnansé, and aim to connect musicians and producers in London, regardless of their background. What started as a weekly jam session, grew into an indispensable part of the London music scene. During Super-Sonic Jam XL last June, Steam Down came to Skatecafe and put on an unforgettable evening. After this resounding success, Super-Sonic Jazz was invited to join them in London for their weekly jam session. Together with Bnnyhunna and his band, they travelled to Peckham last September to take part in SD Weekly. The story will continue, because on Sunday November 17th, Steam Down will be back for Super-Sonic Jam in Paradiso.
