Semper Animato is a semi-professional project orchestra, consisting of professional musicians and talented amateurs from all over the country, which tours abroad annually in varying compositions. In recent years, the orchestra and conductor have given successful concerts in Hungary, Sweden, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Germany and various places in the Netherlands. In addition, the orchestra often collaborates with music companies in the Netherlands, including the Amsterdam Handelsvereniging and the pianist collective Scarbo.
Conductor Kian Pin Hiu was a great musical talent from an early age. After studying violin at the Amsterdam Conservatory, Kian Pin Hiu became first violinist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, a position he held for 25 years. He subsequently conducted many orchestras with which he accompanied numerous great Dutch soloists. In China, Kian Pin Hiu was principal guest conductor with various orchestras, including the China Philharmonic in Beijing and the City Chamber Orchestra in Hong Kong. Since the founding of the Semper Animato Symphony Orchestra, Kian Pin Hiu has been the permanent conductor and annually tours abroad with the orchestra.
