About thirty years ago, oboist Bart Schneemann was given artistic direction of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble and the New Year's concerts grew into the ensemble's showpiece in the concert hall and on TV. The concerts are now as inextricably linked to New Year's Day as ski jumping and the Viennese waltz.
