A bridge of breath

'Music is the language of the universe,' says Sinan Arat, 'which connects all people.' About his performance during the traditional New Year's concert of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble in the Concertgebouw, De Nieuwe Muze wrote jubilantly that the music of 'the always impressive Sinan Arat' sounded like a wise call, infectious 'as if whirling dervishes had hidden in the notes '. Another review characterized an album as finely crafted and pleasing to the ear, while 'underneath everything is stirring and brewing'.

Sinan believes that music forms an invisible bridge of breath that connects everyone: 'a bridge from stone to people, from the heart to cosmos, from silence to the Big Bang, from multiplicity to unity.' In this way, he brings together musical and mystical traditions with his ney, singing and frame drum - in his hands, the reed flute sounds as Rumi intended it in the Song of the Reeds: tender, sensitive, and full of nostalgia for the reed bed it left.

Yin yoga

The calm, meditative and, at the same time, intense postures of yin yoga provide the opportunity to sink deeper into consciousness beyond the thinking patterns of the mind. On the yoga mat, physical sensations intertwine with the musical improvisations. Thoughts calm down, creating space to encounter the music and poetry openly.

Practical information

Book your ticket here. The doors will open at 10:45, it starts at 11:00 and lasts an hour and a half. Bring a mat and possibly a water bottle and props. If you don't have a mat, you can borrow one. The instructions and poetry are bilingual.
