In the 20th century, especially after the fall of the Iron Curtain, borders opened up for cultural exchange between Eastern and Western Europe. Several Polish artists came to the Netherlands, attracted by freedom of expression and opportunities for education. The Polish-Dutch Cultural Association was founded in 1980, intended to stimulate cultural exchange. This year, the association celebrates its 45th anniversary.
For Polska Pasja, the Flower Art Museum selected nine Polish artists who live and work in the Netherlands. All of them show, in their own unique way, how nature inspires them. For example, the exhibition contains very finely painted flower still lifes, sculptures made of handmade paper and linocuts. Wearable art made of recycled materials, expressive paintings and installations are also on display, through which the viewer can feel part of nature and even the cosmos.
