Nightclub
For this DATSKAT WEEKEND, Bimhuis will remove the chairs from the hall and transform it into a nightclub with the best jazz, hip-hop and neo-soul. With two young heroes on Friday: Kuna Maze from Brussels and Bnnyhunna from Amsterdam. And on Saturday, with UK soul from singer Reuben James and a live set from producer collective .multibeat. Every evening, they end with a DJ in the café to dance until the early hours.
Exhaust valve
As a Ghanaian boy from Amsterdam-Zuidoost, Benjamin 'Bnnyhunna' Ankomah had to deal with a lot. Music became his outlet, and he learned guitar, drums and especially keyboards. He celebrated success as a producer and played with Rimon, José James, Arp Frique and Yung Nnelg, among others. Bnnyhunna stimulates all the senses with his shows, inspired by artists such as Fela Kuti and Pharrell Williams.
Perfect mix
The Brussels producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Kuna Maze alias Edouard Gilbert produces music floating between broken beat, house and jazz. He brings together club culture and jazz, which can be clearly heard on his acclaimed debut album 'Night Shift' (2023). His music is regularly played by trendsetters such as Gilles Peterson (BBC 6), Lefto, Soulection and Anz (Radio 1) and thus reaches an increasingly large audience. Although Kuna Maze produces solo, he brings an energetic live band to create that perfect mix of a jazz club and a dance club.
