Reuben James & .multibeat
For this DATSKAT WEEKEND, Bimhuis will remove the chairs from the hall and transform them into a nightclub with the best jazz, hip-hop and neo-soul. With two young heroes on Friday: Moses Yoofee from Berlin and Bnnyhunna from Amsterdam. And on Saturday, with UK soul from singer Reuben James and a live set from producer collective .multibeat. Every evening, they end with a DJ in the café to dance until the early hours.
Reuben James & .multibeat
Rising voice
Reuben James is one of the emerging voices from the UK that you must experience. Big names like Stormzy, Sam Smith and Disclosure are lining up to work with him. They also know where to find him outside pop music, such as jazz legend Herbie Hancock and classical piano prodigy Lang Lang. His tracks have been streamed more than 50 million times in total. He draws inspiration from vocalists like Erykah Badu, D'Angelo and Frank Ocean.
Hip-hop trio
.multibeat is a hip-hop trio and producer collective from Utrecht. They mix all genres and always keep the beat central, inspired by artists such as Robert Glasper and contemporary UK Jazz. In 2022, they released the album Toolbox (Inner Ocean Records) with Noflik, and in 2023, they released the joint EP A Muddy, What Else? (Wicked Wax Music). They also made tracks with GINGE, Glimlip, Jelisa, Yasper and Soul Food Horns, among others.
