Bill Charlap grew up in New York as the son of singer Sandy Stewart and Broadway composer Moose Charlap. He made a name for himself as an accompanist for famous vocalists such as Diana Krall, Sheila Jordan and Tony Bennett. He won a Grammy Award for the album The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern with Tony Bennett. The most recent album of the Bill Charlap Trio, Street of Dreams , was released on the legendary jazz label Blue Note.
