Consort, Kuppen + Van Delft: Lunchtime concert in collaboration with Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds
The Castello Consort is an ensemble for music from the Renaissance and early Baroque. The musicians search for new timbres and possibilities of expression in each project. This concert they are inspired by Musica Ricercata by György Ligeti. In this homage to Renaissance composer Frescobaldi, Ligeti created a connection between two completely different musical styles. Together with pianist Rik Kuppen and harpsichordist Menno van Delft, the Castello Consort puts both Ligeti and Frescobaldi in a new light.

New light on Ligeti and Frescobaldi
In 1953 György Ligeti completed one of his most famous and beloved works, Musica Ricercata . He drew inspiration for this from music from the distant past. Ligeti's fascination with early music is also reflected in his works for solo harpsichord, a cross-pollination of new music on an old instrument. The Castello Consort, specialists in early music, combines the two different musical cultures with the sounds of a modern grand piano.
