Cyrille Aimée
By the time she was 20, Cyrille Aimée had already lived on four continents. This can be clearly heard in the songs on her new album 'À Fleur de Peau'. At first hearing, they are simple, open-hearted songs with a sparkling contemporary sound. Yet they can also be traced back to the jazz and Caribbean dance music that coloured her youth. She sings in English, Spanish and her native French, in addition to her compelling voice improvisations.
Cyrille Aimée
Gipsy jazz
Singer Cyrille Aimée grew up in Samois-sur-Seine, the former hometown of the legendary Django Reinhardt and a place of pilgrimage for lovers of his gipsy jazz. At first, she sang on the street, but soon she conquered European festivals and moved to New York. Nowadays, Aimée lives in New Orleans. The songs on the new album were created in the jungle of Costa Rica. They touch on her Dominican family background, where African dance rhythms and Spanish folk songs come together.
