Eternity - A Capella Concert Choir of the National Opera

Experience the power of the Choir of the Dutch National Opera during an intimate concert in De Duif in Amsterdam. In the monumental church building on the Prinsengracht, fifty singers will perform a capella – without instrument accompaniment – a versatile repertoire, with which they will raise their singing together to an even higher level. From Brahms to Rautavaara

Eternity is an intimate musical contemplation of the concept of eternity. Under the inspiring leadership of Edward Ananian-Cooper, chorus leader of the Dutch National Opera since 2022, the Choir will perform works such as Brahms' profound Warum ist das Licht gegeben, Chausson's compelling Hymne Védique and Rautavaara's atmospheric The First Runo.

Choir of the Dutch National Opera

The Choir of the Dutch National Opera is an essential part of the productions that make the Dutch National Opera an internationally renowned company. In 2016, the Choir was named the best opera choir in the world by the renowned German magazine Opernwelt. The permanent choir consists of fifty singers, but for opera productions that require a larger choir – sometimes ninety to a hundred singers – the Dutch National Opera works with a dedicated group of freelancers.

Eternity is an exclusive concert by the resident choir of the Dutch National Opera only. During this concert you will get an intimate insight into the vocal depth and versatility of the house choir and experience pure ensemble singing at its best.
